About
Established by Decree No. 93/028 of 19 January 1993, the University of Ngaoundere grew out of the former Ngaoundere University Centre. It welcomes students from every region of Cameroon and from neighbouring countries.

Mission
The University of Ngaoundere sets out to:
- Define, develop and consolidate fields of research and teaching at the frontiers of current disciplines and knowledge.
- Deliver teaching and research that place it among the best African universities.
- Identify, through a continuous process and according to criteria shared by the academic community, new priority fields to develop.

Scientia Ars Conscientia — Science, Art and Conscience
- Science
- : The know-how that comes from knowledge, experience and skill.

- : The body of knowledge and rules of practice within a given field.
- Conscience
- : That ordering of the human mind which, by giving us knowledge of our states, our acts and their moral worth, allows us to feel that we exist and to be present to ourselves; by extension, the knowledge a person has of their own states, acts and moral worth.

1976 – 1986 The early years

July 1976
announcement of the creation of four thematic university centres (Buea, Douala, Dschang, Ngaoundere) by H.E. Ahmadou AHIDJO at the ENSP Yaounde graduation ceremony.

1982
the Ngaoundere University Centre (CUN) opens and admits its first intakes.

June 1986
inauguration of the CUN and presentation of degrees to its first graduates by H.E. Mr Paul BIYA.

1993 – 1995 Becoming a university

the CUN becomes a university, with five faculties (FALSH, FSJP, FSEG, FS, FSE) and five grandes ecoles (IUT, ENSAI, EGEM, ESMV, EGCIM).

five institutions effectively open (FALSH, FSJP, FSEG, FS, IUT).

ENSAI opens.

2007 – 2018 Expansion
