Doctoral School of Science, Technology and Engineering
The Doctoral School of Science, Technology and Engineering (ED-STI) is one of the four doctoral schools of the University of Ngaoundere, created by Decision No. 2023/931 of 5 December 2023. Decision No. 2023/932 of 6 December 2023 grouped the following Doctoral Training Units (DTUs) within it: Geosciences, Engineering and Applications (GIA), Chemistry, Engineering and Applications (CIA), Physics, Engineering and Applications (PIA), Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering and Applications (M2IAP), Bioengineering, Biotechnology and Nutrition (BIBN).
Co-accredited schools and faculties, as listed in the call for applications of 16 September 2025: FS, ENSAI, IUT, EGCIM, EGEM, FSE.
Its organisation and operation are laid down in Decision No. 036-2025 of 2 December 2025: a Directorate, a Scientific and Teaching Council and an Administrative and Scientific Secretariat (Art. 5).
Missions
Under Article 4 of Decision No. 036-2025 of 2 December 2025, the Doctoral School is responsible for:
- managing the second year of the Master’s degree, the Doctorate/PhD and preparation for the Habilitation to Supervise Research (HDR);
- promoting the coherence and distinctiveness of research programmes;
- monitoring the uniform application of standards of fairness and academic quality in student selection for Master’s and doctoral studies, supervision, thesis defences and the award of Master’s, doctoral and HDR qualifications;
- managing the grants allocated to the Doctoral School for its operation and for research;
- contributing to the scientific life of the campus;
- seeking partnerships;
- promoting and disseminating research results;
- applying the research policy of the constituent schools and faculties;
- approving thesis topics;
- monitoring thesis work (thesis charter, monitoring committee, evaluation committee) within the regulatory time limits;
- opening doctoral training up at national, sub-regional and international level;
- supervising and evaluating the activities of its Doctoral Training Units (DTUs).
