SPEEDING UP PREPARATIONS FOR THE UNIVERSITY GAMES

Madam Rector of The University of Ngaoundéré, Prof. UPHIE CHINJE Florence, held a third preparatory meeting on 6 February 2023 for the 23rd edition of the University Games, which will take place at The University of Ngaoundéré. The chairpersons of the various commissions attended this meeting, which was held in the Records Hall of the IUT. The agenda focused mainly on the cost estimate and progress of the rehabilitation of the sports infrastructure, the report of the National Federation of University Sports (FENASU), the presentation of the regional order establishing the local organising committee for the 23rd edition of the University Games, and projections on the size of the participating delegations and officials. Regarding the sports infrastructure, it emerged that the renovation works on the said infrastructure would be carried out by the contractors within one month. As for the health component, it was recommended that the various delegations be vaccinated against meningitis, and that 150 students be recruited to act as mobilisers and first-aiders during the Games.

Regarding the size of the delegations, this will be available once the Universities and Institutes have paid their participation fees. Thus, the draw date for the various disciplines and sporting competitions was set for 28 March 2023 by FENASU. Madam Rector asked participants to become actively involved in organising the University Games, for total success as prescribed by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Jacques FAME NDONGO.
