EGCIM Board Meeting: Strengthening Academic Excellence and Scientific Research at The University of Ngaoundéré

On Tuesday 25 July 2023, the School of Chemical Engineering and Mineral Industries (EGCIM) of The University of Ngaoundéré held its first Board meeting, chaired by Madam Rector, Prof. Uphie Chinje Florence, who also chairs the Board. This meeting marked an important step in consolidating academic excellence and scientific research at the university.

The agenda included several crucial items that generated strong participation and constructive discussions. The ceremony opened with the national anthem, symbolising the country’s patriotic commitment to scientific and educational development.

In her welcome address, Prof. Uphie Chinje Florence congratulated the EGCIM management team for its continuous efforts to promote academic excellence and research in the field of chemical engineering and mineral industries. She stressed the importance of this school in Cameroon’s development dynamic, training competent engineers and conducting innovative research.

An essential item on the agenda was the presentation of EGCIM, which highlighted the various streams and programmes offered by the school. Participants also had the opportunity to review EGCIM’s activity report, highlighting achievements, ongoing projects and challenges encountered. Proposals were made to further strengthen the quality of teaching and research within the school.

EGCIM’s budget was discussed in depth, to ensure the optimal use of financial resources in support of the school’s projects and programmes. Discussions were held on the strategic aspects of budget management, aimed at ensuring greater transparency and accountability in the use of allocated funds.

Exchanges between Board members allowed discussions to be deepened and innovative ideas to be shared to promote academic excellence and scientific research within EGCIM. Participants expressed their commitment to the continued development of the school and proposed initiatives to foster international partnerships and knowledge transfer with other renowned institutions around the world.

Finally, various other matters were addressed, in particular administrative and logistical issues, to ensure the smooth running of EGCIM and support academic activities.

This first EGCIM Board meeting marked a significant step in consolidating academic excellence and scientific research at The University of Ngaoundéré. It also reflects the management team’s commitment to training a new generation of competent engineers and promoting innovation in the field of chemical engineering and mineral industries.

EGCIM thus continues to play a key role in Cameroon’s economic and industrial development, drawing on solid expertise and cutting-edge research to meet current and future challenges.
