The Rector of The University of Ngaoundéré, Pr MAMOUDOU ABDOULMOUMINI, presided on 30 November 2023 over the 49th session of the University Council. Several resolutions were approved by all the statutory members of this body who were present at the Hall of Acts of the ESMV. They thus approved the intensification of deliberations on the project to construct the School of Electrical Trades on the Dang campus, covering an area of 100 hectares. This project aims to provide solutions to the energy shortfall. The said project has received the approval of the Ministry of Water and Energy (MINEE), under co-financing from the World Bank and the African Development Bank (BAD).
The University Council also examined the enrichment of the professional training offer in Law and Political Science, notably Political and Economic Law, Land and Estate Law and Litigation, Asylum and Humanitarian Governance, and Legal and Political Engineering for the Extractive and Mining Industries.
At the Faculty of Science, it was decided to establish the Biochemistry stream in accordance with the LMD system pathway.
Likewise at the IUT, a project to open a renewable energy stream from next year was defended by the Director in charge of this school. This concerns Renewable Energy Engineering and Renewable Energy and Environment Technology.
Furthermore, at the EGEM, 6 new Master’s cycles were created in the field of Mining and Petroleum.
As for the FSE, the creation of two professional Master’s cycles was initiated: in Organisational Management, in Educational Psychology and Sports Infrastructure within the Department of Physical, Sports and Leisure Education, and in Psychopedagogy.
Regarding the progress of work on drafting the law on the doctoral school presented by Professor Ngounou Ngatcha, it emerges that out of the 22 doctoral training units and 46 research laboratories that The University of Ngaoundéré had, in-depth work has been carried out by a team of the Institution’s lecturers since 2017. This work has helped to federate certain doctoral programmes into 12 UFD, given the similarities and research focuses observed.
