Installation of the New Director of EGEM in Meiganga: Prof. Tatsadjieu Ngoune Léopold Takes the Helm

On 6 August 2024, the Meiganga council hall hosted a ceremony of major importance for the future of the School of Geology and Mining Exploitation (EGEM). Prof. Mamoudou Abdoulmoumini, Rector of The University of Ngaoundéré, officially installed Professor Tatsadjieu Ngoune Léopold as the new Director of EGEM.

Clear and Ambitious Missions for the New Director

During his address, Prof. Abdoulmoumini outlined the essential missions entrusted to the new Director. These include:

  • Quality assurance: Establishing procedures to guarantee academic and administrative excellence.
  • Professionalisation: Promoting training adapted to the requirements of the labour market.
  • Digitalisation: Integrating digital technologies into teaching and administrative processes.
  • Employability: Strengthening partnerships with businesses to improve graduates’ employment prospects.
  • Rational resource management: Optimising the use of human, financial and material resources.
  • Compliance with the regulatory framework: Ensuring the strict application of the regulations in force.

An Increased Subsidy and New Projects for EGEM

The Rector also announced excellent news: EGEM’s subsidy will be increased by 100% for the 2025 financial year. This significant increase aims to support the school’s development projects. In addition, the inauguration of EGEM’s new building is planned for February 2025, symbolising a new era for this vocational training institution.

A Ceremony Marked by the Presence of Dignitaries

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the representative of the Governor of the Adamaoua Region, the Prefect of Mbéré Division, the Mayor of Meiganga Council, the Lamido of Meiganga, as well as officials of The University of Ngaoundéré and numerous members of the Meiganga community.

The installation of Professor Tatsadjieu Ngoune Léopold marks a decisive turning point for EGEM. With clear missions and an increased subsidy, the school is preparing to meet the challenges of vocational training in the geology and mining exploitation sectors. The people of Meiganga and stakeholders in the mining sector are following with interest the forthcoming developments under the enlightened leadership of Prof. Tatsadjieu Ngoune Léopold.
