Teacher Trainers at the School of Transformative Education

The Faculty of Educational Sciences organised a seminar on transformative education and university pedagogy on 13 December 2023. Held under the theme « Transformative Education and university pedagogy in the era of the professionalisation of training », this seminar, which drew a good number of university officials, lecturers and students to Lecture Hall 500 of the ESMV, was chaired by the Secretary General of The University of Ngaoundéré, Pr VOUDWÉ BAKRÉO, who represented the Rector, Pr MAMOUDOU ABDOULMOUMINI. The main objective of this seminar is to promote transformative education and university pedagogy in higher education.

The workshop began with an elaborate presentation by the Director of Academic Affairs (DAAC), who emphasised the identification of problems in order to find solutions for the teaching curriculum. He reiterated the need for students, doctors and professors to take seriously this workshop, which is fully in line with the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education.

His presentation was followed by that of the host, the Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Professor Menye Nga Germain Fabrice. His presentation focused on educational sciences and professionalisation, with a call for more rigorous teaching techniques and appropriate practices to ensure students’ good understanding. Next, Professor Ndemanu Takafor Michael of Ball State University in the United States gave a talk on understanding transformative education in the era of professionalisation. He urged teachers to strive to achieve the sustainable development goals through teaching.

The second presentation session began with the address of Professor David Roof, a representative of Ball State University. He asked trainers to rethink curricula and teaching skills. As for Professor Oyono, his presentation focused on societal needs and place-based education for societal transformation. As a crowning highlight, participants were treated to a highly elaborate and stimulating presentation by the VR-EPDTIC, focused on pedagogy, the learner and teaching practices. Tomorrow promises to be a day rich in workshops.
