THE UNIVERSITY OF NGAOUNDÉRÉ HONOURS THE TEACHER

2 min read

It came as an unexpected surprise to see the teachers of The University of Ngaoundéré parade on 5 October 2023 at the Place de l’Indépendance, on the occasion of the celebration of World Teachers’ Day. The invitation from the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, and that of the Rector of The University of Ngaoundéré met with a favourable response from academics in academic gowns. They responded favourably to the invitation of the Chancellor of Academic Orders, Prof. Jacques FAME NDONGO, and that of Prof. MAMOUDOU ABDOULMOUMINI, Rector of The University of Ngaoundéré.

According to the Head of the Research and Development Division at the Directorate of Academic Affairs and Cooperation (DAAC), this celebration has its own rightful place and cannot be considered marginal: « Indeed, World Teachers’ Day must be celebrated by all teachers. It should be noted that a Higher Education teacher is a teacher like any other before being a teacher-researcher. So, this is a day that concerns all of us », said Professor WAM MANDENG Patrice, Associate Professor, with satisfaction.

With a view to better harmonising the activities of their colleagues from primary and secondary education, who also took part in the parade, he suggests better organisation of this day in future: « We tried out this celebration for the first time; we will take appropriate measures, so that in the years to come we can better organise our World Teachers’ Day with all the activities that may be important and useful for this day, whether for teachers or for learners », he recommends.

Commemorated under the theme « The teachers we need for the education we want: the global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage », the 29th edition of this day dedicated to the lords of the chalk was presided over by the Governor of the Adamaoua Region, KILDADI TAGUIEKE BOUKAR, in the presence of the Secretary General of The University of Ngaoundéré, Prof. VOUDWE BAKREO, who represented the Rector of The University of Ngaoundéré, Prof. MAMOUDOU ABDOULMOUMINI.
